My Horses - The Boys

Paint Spot ( Darius Marius)

Darius Marius had both a successful racing career and then a long time competing in advanced dressage.

He was surrendered to us with some ongoing lameness issues.

Initially he had a bit of a rough time adjusting to being in a herd, barefoot and having a more natural diet after spending his whole life in shoes, on grain and in a stable, but he has certainly relaxed into a real smoocher and seems to be relishing the slower life.

We attended some local hunter hack competitions in 2010.

Brass Razoo (Sydney)

Sydney is an off-the-track thoroughbred. He was surrendered to us with some behavioural problems.

Sydney has some food allergies and gastro-intestinal ulcers, but is responding very well to an unorthodox diet.
He is definitely odd, but he is also a sweetheart who deserves a second chance.

Wallaby Gully Peekaboo

Boo is Ilu's foal.

He was born in November 2007.

We started him in late 2009, and have now turned him out again to do some more growing.

He is a very quick learner and enjoys working.

Celestial Wind (Charlie).

Charlie is a small OTTB (off the track thoroughbred).

We bought Charlie as a plodder for trail riding, but he responded better than we expected to schooling.

We had planned to hack with Charles, but we haven't been keeping him in work since the equine flu outbreak.

Reddy Spaghetti.

Reddy is a bay stock horse. He's too smart and drives me bananas opening gates just to see what's on the other side, herding my mares away when I'm trying to catch them, and generally being a nuisance.

I am really only able to appreciate Reddy's qualities when he is in the very furthest paddock from the house.

On the other hand, Reddy is only able to enjoy life fully when he is up in the front paddock making my life more difficult.

Wellington

Wells belongs to a neighbour of ours.

Having suffered a nasty accident as a young horse he has spent his whole life as a paddock companion.

Wellington has fallen in love with Claire Mare.

The two of them are in a very large paddock together, but never more than a few feet apart.

Poor old Wells doesn't have many teeth left, but he still manages to stay a very healthy weight.

(Since Claire Mare's passing, Wellington has returned to his owner)
