Mentoring and Manuscript
Assessment
Alyssa
has twice been a mentor for the Children's Book Council
of Australia 'Frustrated Writers' mentorship program.
The first mentorship resulted in the publication
of Michelle Cooper's 'The Rage of Sheep', with Random House
Australia. Michelle has gone on to receive much acclaim
for her second book 'A Brief History of Montmaray' including
winning the NSW Premier's literary Award.
The second mentorship resulted in Vrenie Keller's
manuscript being taken on by literary agents Curtis Brown.
Alyssa is currently completing a PhD in narrative
structure and unreliable narration in Young Adult Fiction.
She is listed as a mentor with the Australian
Society of Authors mentorship program.
Alyssa is also willing to work on manuscripts
on a fee-for-service basis. She charges standard ASA rates,
which are $70 per hour + gst.
For a manuscript of over 10,000 words Alyssa
will complete an initial reading and comment for 4 hours
(or $308). If you find those comments useful, you can buy
a further 4 hours, and so on.

Testimonial
"Alyssa was a terrific mentor.
She took the time to listen to what I wanted to achieve,
then provided clear and useful suggestions for improving
my manuscript. Her experience as a writer and her knowledge
of the publishing industry helped me find both a publisher
and an agent for my first novel." Michelle
